Emily Drennen
Sustainable Transportation Policy and Planning

Emily is a community activist with extensive policy and legislative experience in San Francisco city government. She was the Executive Director of Walk San Francisco, and currently serves on the Citizen Advisory Council of the Municipal Transportation Agency, the Advisory Council of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, and the Citizen Advisory Council of San Francisco's Better Streets Plan. Most recently, she ran for the BART Board of Directors as part of her commitment to improving transportation options for the Bay Area.
Emily has also served as a past Legislative Aide to Supervisor Jake McGoldrick, Legislative Intern to then-Board President Tom Ammiano, and two-term Chair of San Francisco’s Bicycle Advisory Committee. A native of Connecticut, Emily graduated with honors from Guilford College in North Carolina, and received her Master’s of Public Administration from San Francisco State University. She moved to San Francisco in 1997 to develop the Community Outreach and Volunteer Program for the Crissy Field Restoration Project at the GGNRA. She has become very involved in activism and community service since then, focusing mainly on transit and transportation issues. Emily lives in San Francisco with her partner, Lindasusan Ulrich. She is a frequent transit rider, bicyclist, and pedestrian. Emily is available for presentations on her research, as well as for transportation and community planning.
